Kansas – 38th Convention of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia
The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia will be holding their 38th Internationl Convention from June 10 through June 17, 2007 at the Holiday Inn in Hays, Kansas. This years convention is hosted by the local Sunflower Chapter and the Kansas Chapters.
This years speakers include Bishop Joseph Werth, Novosibirsk, Russia, Isabel Kessler, Buenos Aires, Argentia, President of the Wolga Deutsch Association, Bishop Clemens Pickel, Saratov, Russia, Alex Herzog, Boulder, Colorado, Dr. D. Chris Johnson, “Dialects of the Germans from Russia”, Larry Weigel, “Thank God I’m a Volga Boy”, Leona Wasinger Pfeifer, “Life Histories of Pioneering Women in Russia”, Peggy Goertsen, “Revisiting the Crimea”, plus many more.
Many tours are planned as well including the Sternberg Museum, local Bolga German Churches, Ellis County Museum, Railroad Museum, Chrysler Home, FHSU Ethnic Studies and Historic Fort Hays.
